Decapolis

The Decapolis (Latin for "ten cities") were cities built by Romans in the Middle East and allied to Rome.

The most well-known of the cities is Jerash; it is considered to be the Asian Pompeii.

The other nine cities were Scythopolis (Beth-Shean, only city on the western side of the Jordan) , Hippus, Gadara, Pella, Philadelphia, Dion, Canatha, Raphana, and Damascus.
