Jazz on a Summer's Day

Jazz on a Summer's Day is a 1959 documentary film set at the Newport Jazz Festival[?], mixing images of water and the city with the performers and audience at the festival. Performers included Jimmy Giuffre[?], Thelonious Monk, Henry Grimes[?], Sonny Stitt[?], Sal Salvador[?], Anita O'Day, George Shearing[?], Dinah Washington, Gerry Mulligan[?], Big Maybelle[?], Chuck Berry, Chico Hamilton[?], Louis Armstrong, Jack Teagarden, Mahalia Jackson, Bob Brookmeyer[?], Buck Clayton[?], Willis Conover[?], Art Farmer[?], Jo Jones[?] and Armando Pareza[?].

The movie was written by Albert D'Annibale[?] and Arnold Perl[?] and directed by Bert Stern[?]. In 1999 the film was deemed "culturally significant" by the United States Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.
