Morales has been acting since he was a teenager. Morales was on Puerto Rico's television since it's inception in the 1950s, up until the middle 1980s. He was the star of a comedy section on WAPA-TVs midday show. The section's name was La Fondita De La Esquina or The Little Store on The Corner. There, he played the store owner alongside Raulito Carbonell[?], who had two characterizations: a gay man and a Vietnam veteran.
After retiring from La Fondita, Morales dedicated himself to directing, and he became a legend in Puerto Rico when his movie, Lo Que Le Paso A Santiago[?], became nominated in the Oscars for Best Foreign Language Movie. The movie didn't win, but the nomination itself helped Morales' status as one of the best directors ever to come from Puerto Rico get solified.
