Isabel Allende

Isabel Allende (born August 2, 1942) is a Chilean author, the niece of former Chilean President Salvador Allende. After he was overthrown in 1973, she moved into exile in Venezuela. In a visit to California in 1988, she met her current (as of 2003) husband, and stayed there. In 2003 she obtained American citizenship.

Her books include The House of the Spirits, Of Love and Shadows, Eva Luna, The Stories of Eva Luna, and The Infinite Plan.
