Iraqi Regular Army

The Iraqi Regular Army consists of 300,000 troops organized into 5 corps. In all there are 11 infantry divisions, 3 mechanized divisions, and 3 armored divisions.

Disposition of the Iraqi Regular Army -- January 10, 2003

The force is primarily located in eastern Iraq.

  • 1st Corps -- near Kirkuk
    • 5th Mechanized Division
    • 2nd Infantry Division
    • 8th Infantry Division
    • 38th Infantry Division
  • 2nd Corps -- near Diyala[?]
    • 3rd Armored Division
    • 15th Infantry Division
    • 34th Infantry Division
  • 3rd Corps -- near An Nasiriyah
    • 6th Armored Division
    • 51st Mechanized Division
    • 11th Infantry Division
  • 4th Corps -- near Al Amarah[?]
    • 10th Armored Division
    • 14th Infantry Division
    • 18th Infantry Division
  • 5th Corps -- near Mosel
    • 1st Mechanized Division
    • 4th Infantry Division
    • 7th Infantry Division
    • 16th Infantry Division

In addition there is an armored infantry[?] division or battlegroup in western Iraq. The author does not know how this fits into the order of battle.
