Inheritance (computer science)

In computer science, the chief use of the term inheritance is in object-oriented programming - see Inheritance (object-oriented programming). However, the term is also used in other areas.

In genetic algorithms, inheritance the ability of modelled objects to mate, mutate and propagate their problem solving genes to the next generation, in order to produce an evolved solution to a particular problem.
