In Sickness and in Health

In Sickness and in Health was a BBC television sitcom sequel to the highly successful Till Death Us Do Part, an everyday tale of a dysfunctional East London family. In this series, the character Alf Garnett's wife Else (played by Dandy Nichols) is confined to a wheelchair (a consequence of Nichols' own confinement to a wheelchair) and eventually dies (in fact Nichols herself had died before the second series began). After her death Alf is devastated - he can no longer spend her pension.
