Image processing

Image processing is the application of signal processing techniques to the domain of two-dimensional images such as photographs or video. Some domain-specific techniques exist for things such as feature extraction, but conceptually it does not differ from other forms of signal processing.

As a field of research, "image processing" can be identified with digital image processing.
