Hindustani languages

"Hindustani" is the term formerly used to collectively name the Hindi and Urdu languages. The two are largely similar in grammar and vocabulary, but Urdu, spoken in largely-Muslim Pakistan, has more loanwords from Persian and Arabic, while Hindi, spoken in largely-Hindu northern India, has more influence from the southern Dravidian languages and classical Sanskrit.
