Helmand River

The Helmand River is the longest river in Afghanistan. It rises in the Hindu Kush in the east of the country, flows roughly south-west for about 800 miles, and empties into marshland[?] near the border with Iran.

The Helmand has been suggested as a possible identity of the Vedic Saraswati River.
