Heat equation

The heat equation or diffusion equation is an important partial differential equation which describes the temperature in a given region over time. It is:

<math>u_t = k ( u_{xx} + u_{yy} + u_{zz} )</math>

Solutions will typically "even out" over time. The number k describes the heat conductivity[?] of the material.
