Havelland

Havelland is a Kreis (district) in the western part of Brandenburg, Germany. Area 1707 kmē, population 142,000 (2002). The district's capital is Rathenow[?].

Geographically Havelland is the name for the regions on the banks of the Havel river between the city of Berlin and the confluence with the Elbe river. This region also includes the cities of Brandenburg and Potsdam, that are not part of the district. The district mainly consists of the areas north of the Havel river.
