Haute-Loire

Haute-Loire is a French département, number 43, named after the Loire River. It was created in 1790 out of portions of the historical provinces of Auvergne, Languedoc and Lyonnais[?].

Préfecture (capital): Le Puy en Velay[?]

Sous-préfectures: Brioude[?] and Yssingeaux[?].
