Harry Mulisch

Harry Mulisch (born July 29, 1927) is a Dutch author. His work consists of novels, plays, essays, poems, and philosophical reflections.

Almost thematic as content in his work is the Second World War. The specialty of this subject is then connected with 'greater themes of Human Life'. The style often referres to classical mythology, and the composition of his work is often complex. His novels consist of different layers.

International recognition for his work started after the film The Assault[?], based on his book De aanslag received an Academy Award for best foreign movie.

His novel De ontdekking van de Hemel (1992) was recently put on film as Discovery of Heaven[?].
