Hans Richter

Hans Richter was a Dadaist artist, filmmaker and writer. He was born on April 6, 1888 in Berlin and died on February 1, 1976 in Minusio[?], near Locarno[?], Switzerland. One of the founders of the Dada movement, he was active in Zurich, Switzerland from 1916 to 1920. He moved to the United States in 1940 and became an American citizen.

Richter was also the author of a first-hand account of the Dada movement titled Dada: Art and Anti-Art.


Hans Richter was also the name of a well known German conductor (1843-1916). He is noted as one of Richard Wagner's greatest champions.
