Groundhog Day (movie)

Groundhog Day is a 1993 comedy film starring Bill Murray as Phil, the weatherman; Andie MacDowell as Rita; and Chris Elliott as Larry. The film was directed by Harold Ramis[?].

An obnoxious TV weatherman (Murray) is trapped in a time warp, reliving the same day (Groundhog Day) in the small town of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania (which, both in the movie and in real life, holds a major celebration for Groundhog Day), over and over again. As exactly the same external events occur again and again, he takes the unique chance to become a much better person in only one day and also to win his colleague's (MacDowell's) heart.

From the reviews

"An example of an exceptional work of moral fiction is the apparently minor comedy, Groundhog Day, which shows us a character who has to be exiled from normal life so he can discover that he is in exile from himself." [1] (http://www.transparencynow.com/groundhog.htm)

"If I had to nominate one movie as my favourite I think it would be Groundhog Day. It is a comedy, a fantasy, a romance and a moral tale of a cynical man's redemption." [2] (http://www.apex.net.au/~bill/movies/ghogday)
