Groton, Connecticut
Groton, Connecticut is the home of the Electric Boat Corporation, the major contractor for submarine work for the US Navy.
Groton is on the shore of New England.
The first diesel-powered submarine was commissioned in Groton on February 14, 1912.
On January 21, 1954 the first nuclear-powered submarine, the USS Nautilus, was launched from Groton.
