Glendale, California

Glendale is a city located in Los Angeles County, California. It is in the San Fernando Valley[?], part of the Greater Los Angeles Area. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 194,973.

The city is bordered to the West by Burbank, California, to the east by Pasadena, California.

Geography Glendale is located at 34°10'15" North, 118°15'0" West (34.170939, -118.250081)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 79.4 km² (30.7 mi²). 79.4 km² (30.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.07% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 194,973 people, 71,805 households, and 49,617 families residing in the city. The population density is 2,456.1/km² (6,362.2/mi²). There are 73,713 housing units at an average density of 928.6/km² (2,405.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 63.58% White, 1.27% African American, 0.32% Native American, 16.12% Asian, 0.08% Pacific Islander, 8.57% from other races, and 10.06% from two or more races. 19.72% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 71,805 households out of which 32.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.3% are married couples living together, 11.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.9% are non-families. 25.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.68 and the average family size is 3.27.

In the city the population is spread out with 22.4% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 32.2% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 13.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 91.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 88.0 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $41,805, and the median income for a family is $47,633. Males have a median income of $39,709 versus $33,815 for females. The per capita income for the city is $22,227. 15.5% of the population and 13.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 20.7% are under the age of 18 and 11.9% are 65 or older.
