Francis

Francis Garcia Escalante (born approx. 1950) is a Mexican transvestite who has become a famous actor/actress. Francis' birthname is Francisco, but he/she is better known plainly as Francis. It is unclear whether he/she actually had a sex change operation.

Francis gained attention first as a vedette[?], participating at various clubs and theaters, with a transvestites' ballet. With this musical group, Francis participated in the movie Noches de Cabaret[?], with legendary actress Sasha Montenegro[?]. From there on, Francis went on to get small roles at Televisa's Spanish soap operas. One of his/her first roles in a soap opera was that of a transvestite who was attempting to gain his mother's acceptance. This was viewed by many as a social message towards acceptance of homosexualism in Mexico. From there on, he/she started getting more and more prominent roles at other soap operas.

Francis has continued working in theater too, and is currently on a tour that has taken him/her to various locations accross Mexico and in the United States.

He/she has also become a reporter for some television gossip shows, interviewing various of his/her acting colleagues. Some of his/her interviews have been memorable, more recently the one with Ernesto Laguardia[?], who allegedly pushed him/her off and told him/her he (Laguardia) didnt feel like talking to Francis.

Francis had a 15 year relationship with a man in Mexico City. Francis announced, however, that he/she was not involved in any relationships at the moment when interviewed by TV y Novelas[?] magazine. When asked about a sex change operation, Francis has also chosen to dodge the subject.
