Fort Loramie, Ohio

Fort Loramie is a village located in Shelby County, Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 1,344. The village was founded in 1837.

Geography Fort Loramie is located at 40°20'53" North, 84°22'14" West (40.348043, -84.370600)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.9 km² (0.7 mi²). 1.9 km² (0.7 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water. The village is at an elevation of 953 Feet above sea level.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 1,344 people, 480 households, and 358 families residing in the village. The population density is 710.9/km² (1,848.7/mi²). There are 494 housing units at an average density of 261.3/km² (679.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 99.70% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.30% from two or more races. 0.37% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 480 households out of which 40.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.3% are married couples living together, 4.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.4% are non-families. 22.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.80 and the average family size is 3.35.

In the village the population is spread out with 31.0% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 31.2% from 25 to 44, 16.9% from 45 to 64, and 13.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 33 years. For every 100 females there are 95.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 97.4 males.

The median income for a household in the village is $54,750, and the median income for a family is $65,089. Males have a median income of $39,934 versus $27,039 for females. The per capita income for the village is $19,602. 1.4% of the population and 0.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 0.2% are under the age of 18 and 5.4% are 65 or older.
