The Federation Internationale de l'Automobile, commonly referred to as FIA, is the governing body for certain major motor racing events. Headquartered at 8, Place de la Concorde, Paris, France, it consists of 157 national member organisations in 118 countries worldwide.

In 1950, they organized the first World Championship for race car drivers in racing events known today as Formula One.

In 1973, FIA expanded its jurisdiction to include rally racing. The Monte Carlo Rally became the first ever FIA World Rally Championship[?] event.
