Feneberg

Feneberg is a ruined castle in the Tyrol in northern Italy, on the outskirts of Merano[?].

It can be found by following a signpost along the road out of Merano[?] heading north into the Alps, that points up the hill.

There is evidence in the literature (specifically a German gazetteer from the late 1800s) relating the fene in the name, to the word-stem[?] feen. In that gazetteer, which exists in two editions, the older one refers to Feen-leute, whereas the later one refers to Fenes-leute.

Merano has historically had trade with Venice, going back to the Doges, and was at one time known for its copper mines.
