Fayette County is a county located in the U.S. State of Georgia. As of 2000, the population is 91,263. The county's county seat is Fayetteville, Georgia6.

Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 516 km² (199 mi²). 510 km² (197 mi²) of it is land and 6 km² (2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.10% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 91,263 people, 31,524 households, and 25,975 families residing in the county. The population density is 179/km² (463/mi²). There are 32,726 housing units at an average density of 64/km² (166/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 83.87% White, 11.47% African American, 0.21% Native American, 2.42% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.76% from other races, and 1.25% from two or more races. 2.83% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 31,524 households out of which 43.10% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.50% are married couples living together, 8.30% have a female householder with no husband present, and 17.60% are non-families. 15.00% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.50% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.88 and the average family size is 3.20.

In the county the population is spread out with 29.10% under the age of 18, 6.50% from 18 to 24, 27.70% from 25 to 44, 27.80% from 45 to 64, and 8.90% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 95.80 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 92.00 males.

The median income for a household in the county is $71,227, and the median income for a family is $78,853. Males have a median income of $54,738 versus $33,333 for females. The per capita income for the county is $29,464. 2.60% of the population and 2.00% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 2.80% are under the age of 18 and 4.60% are 65 or older.
