Eugenius

Eugenius claimed to be Roman Emperor (392 - 394).

Following the mysterious death of Valentinian II, the general Arbogast[?] was forced to save his life by elevating the administrator Eugenius to emperor. A pagan, one of Eugenius's immediate acts was to restore the Altar of Victory[?] to the Senate House in Rome.

Theodosius eventually confronted this rebellion, invading Italy and defeating Eugenius' army at the Battle of Frigidius[?] on September 6, 394. Arbogast immediately committed suicide after the defeat, while Eugenius was held for execution as a criminal.
