Erftstadt

Erftstadt is a city comprised of several small villages in the Erftkreis, Germany, near Cologne. It was created in 1969 when the city Lechenich[?] was merged with several sorrounding municipalities. The name of the city derives from the river which flows through it, the Erft. Population: 51,939 (2003), geographical location 6° 46' East, 50° 48' North. The city covers an area of approximately 120 km², of which 70% are agricultural land, and only 10% are urban area.
