Enochville, North Carolina

Enochville is a town located in Rowan County, North Carolina. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 2,851.

Geography Enochville is located at 35°31'16" North, 80°39'49" West (35.521048, -80.663579)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 12.0 km² (4.7 mi²). 11.4 km² (4.4 mi²) of it is land and 0.6 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 5.16% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 2,851 people, 1,143 households, and 846 families residing in the town. The population density is 249.0/km² (645.5/mi²). There are 1,219 housing units at an average density of 106.5/km² (276.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 95.97% White, 2.03% African American, 0.46% Native American, 0.60% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 0.42% from other races, and 0.46% from two or more races. 2.14% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,143 households out of which 28.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.2% are married couples living together, 9.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.9% are non-families. 22.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.47 and the average family size is 2.88.

In the town the population is spread out with 22.4% under the age of 18, 6.2% from 18 to 24, 28.7% from 25 to 44, 26.2% from 45 to 64, and 16.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 88.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 90.4 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $38,438, and the median income for a family is $46,603. Males have a median income of $34,115 versus $20,819 for females. The per capita income for the town is $16,558. 8.2% of the population and 7.2% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 12.3% are under the age of 18 and 19.9% are 65 or older.
