Transient electromagnetic device

A device that emits a transient pulse[?] of electromagnetic radiation of a few picoseconds in length.

TEDs generally use spark-gap switches[?], in oil or in pressurized gas pulse storage lines, or explosively pumped flux compression generators.

TEDs have been examined by the US military[?] for their threat potential as a weapon that harms computer systems.
