El Parque del Tren

Redirected from El Parque del tren

El Parque del Tren (The Train's Park) is a touristic attraction in Bayamon.

One of the important jobs opened under mayor Ramon Luis Rivera, El Parque del Tren was opened in 1980. It features a western era train that was, until 2003, the only working train in Puerto Rico. It also features a DC-3 airplane formely used by United Airlines.

The park is modeled to resemble a western town, with artificial rivers, wooden houses and bridges around it. The train rides are about five minutes long. The park is located right next to city hall, which Rivera made into another touristic attraction (city hall was, at some time, the only Latin American building to cross over an avenue).

Many entertainers. like Los Chicos and others, have performed at El Parque del Tren.

In 2003, when a brand new, metropolitan train system opened in the metropolitan areas of San Juan[?], Carolina[?], Guaynabo and Bayamon, the park's train lost its position as the only operating train in Puerto Rico.
