Dentergem is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Dentergem proper, Markegem[?], Oeselgem[?] and Wakken[?]. On January 1st, 2000 Dentergem had a total population of 7,868 (3,960 males and 3,908 females). The total area is 25.86 km² which gives a population density of 304.25 inhabitants per km².
