A
periscope is a simple device for seeing around corners. It is used on
submarines and as
toy.
A cost-effective way of making a sturdy demonstration periscope
- 2 pieces of plywood 45cm x 10cm and 0.9cm thick
- 2 pieces of plywood at least 37cm x 10cm and 0.9cm thick
- 2 pieces of plywood at least 11.6cm x 10cm and 0.9cm thick
- 2 pieces of woodthat are prism shaped at least 10cm x 8.5cm x 8.5cm the internal angles shoul be 90degrees and 45degres
- 2 plastic or glass mirrors 10cm x 10cm
- small screws to fit.
- Screwdriver
- Drill with suitable drill bits for the screws
- PVA Glue
- Get the wood cut the wood to the correct size and sanded if need be.
- Screw the 4 long pieces together as in fig 1.
- Screw the prism shaped pieces of wood on either end as in fig 1. and attach mirrors with glue.
- Attach ends as in fig 1.
