Death rock

Contemporary Gothic rock bands call the genre "Death Rock", to distinguish the style from contemporary goth, which has diverged significantly from the initial English Goth style style since the Sisters of Mercy.

Death rock also embraces early punk more than the initial English Goth style, allowing for bands such as The Misfits to be part of the genre.
