Daviston is a town located in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. As of the 2000 census, the population of the town is 267.

Geography Daviston is located at 33°3'19" North, 85°38'21" West (33.055251, -85.639164)1.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 23.8 km² (9.2 mi²). 23.8 km² (9.2 mi²) of it is land and 0.11% is water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 267 people, 109 households, and 74 families residing in the town. The population density is 11.2/km² (29.1/mi²). There are 117 housing units at an average density of 4.9/km² (12.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 82.02% White, 17.98% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 1.50% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 109 households out of which 34.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.3% are married couples living together, 14.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.2% are non-families. 26.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.45 and the average family size is 3.01.

In the town the population is spread out with 24.7% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 32.6% from 25 to 44, 23.6% from 45 to 64, and 12.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 103.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 87.9 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $31,250, and the median income for a family is $37,500. Males have a median income of $26,250 versus $16,875 for females. The per capita income for the town is $14,239. 18.4% of the population and 15.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 15.7% are under the age of 18 and 20.0% are 65 or older.
