Dave Berg

Dave Berg (June 12, 1920-May 17, 2002) was a cartoonist for Mad Magazine. Berg was born in Brooklyn, New York, and attended the Cooper Union Art School. He served a period of time in the Army Air Corp. Afterward, he worked with Stan Lee at Timely Comics (now known as Marvel), on a variety of comic books, such as "Combat Kelly".

Berg went to work for Mad in 1956. He started the "The Lighter Side" cartoon in 1961, which would become his most famous creation. He went on to work at Mad for 40 years before retiring. He died May 17, 2002 after a long battle with cancer.
