The album unfolds about how money, time, mental illness and others can all contribute to insanity, pointing the way to new recording studio techniques (Such as?). "Money" and "Us And Them" have become radio call-in favourites (with "Money" having also been a bestselling single).
The album contains some of the most intricate and imaginative uses of instruments and effects in the studio argueably up to that time, including the sound of someone running around a microphone, and the recording of multiple clocks going off, which is one of the loudest sounds ever committed to vinyl.
