Culiacan, Sinaloa

Culiacan is a coastal city in the state of Sinaloa, northwest Mexico. It is located north of Mazatlan[?].

Culiacan has a number of hotels as well as a small, jet airport, which can be reached flying on Aero California[?], Aeromexico and Mexicana de Aviacion.

In the 1990s, Culiacan gained fame for being the hometown of world boxing champion Julio Cesar Chavez. Although a native of Tamaulipas, Jose Luis Ramirez, another world boxing champion, also moved to Culiacan. And members of the Arellano-Felix family, long suspected of being one of the largest drug traffickers in Mexico, also live in Culiacan (see Ramon Arellano-Felix).
