The
Counting Crows are a
San Francisco based rock band that became very popular in
1994, following the release of their debut album
August and Everything After, which featured the song "Mr. Jones." Their second album,
Recovering the Satellites, followed in
1996. A double live album,
Across a Wire--Live in New York, was released in
1998. Their third studio disc,
This Desert Life, was released in
1999. Their latest disc,
Hard Candy, was released in July
2002. The Counting Crows recently covered an old
Joni Mitchell song, "Big Yellow Taxi," for the movie
Two Weeks Notice[?] starring
Hugh Grant and
Sandra Bullock.
Counting Crows lead singer Adam Duritz's vocal style has been compared to Van Morrison. He has recently collaborated with Ryan Adams on his album Gold.
