Coronal mass ejection

A coronal mass ejection is a solar event which can emit a relatively large burst of electrons and protons. On Earth, such ejections can deplete the ozone layer and cause particularly strong polar aurora. These events can disrupt radio transmissions; and damage satellites and electrical transmission lines[?].
