Conifer

A conifer is a type of tree characterised by thin shiny needle-like leaves. Most are evergreen, although some, like the baldcypresses, larches and dawn redwood[?] are deciduous.

As the name implies, most are cone-bearing, although again there are exceptions like the yews and junipers.

Typical conifers include the pines, cedars and firs.

Conifers make up the division Pinophyta, which is one of the groups of non-flowering seed plants.
