Coevorden

Coevorden (population: 35,742) is a town in the northeastern Netherlands, in the province of Drenthe. The municipality covers an area of 300.00 km².

Two cities and a large island (and more) in North America, called Vancouver, have been named after George Vancouver, whose family name was in turn derived from 'Van Coevorden', i.e. 'from Coevorden', hence the locations mentioned were indirectly named after this town.
