Geography Coalton is located at 39°17'7" North, 89°18'4" West (39.285144, -89.301034)¹.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.3 km² (0.5 mi²). 1.3 km² (0.5 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 307 people, 123 households, and 79 families residing in the village. The population density is 227.9/km² (592.1/mi²). There are 132 housing units at an average density of 98.0/km² (254.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 97.07% White, 0.00% African American, 0.33% Native American, 0.65% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.33% from other races, and 1.63% from two or more races. 0.98% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 123 households out of which 34.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.7% are married couples living together, 4.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.0% are non-families. 32.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 22.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
