Chatrapati Shivaji

Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj (1630-1680)

A Maratha king held in great esteem in Maharashtra state of India. He founded a kingdom in the 16th century with its capital at Raigad[?], freeing Maharashtra state from the rule of Mughals[?]. His military strategy and heroic wars with the Mugal emperor Aurangzeb are legendary.
