Captain Lockheed and the Starfighters

Captain Lockheed and the Starfighters was a 1974 satirical record by the erstwhile frontman of acid-rock band Hawkwind, Robert Calvert. It particularly targeted the military and arms salesmen, with the principal target being Lockheed and the plane which they sold to the German Air Ministry, the Lockheed F-104, colloquially known as the Starfighter. These planes did not so much fly as plummet, a propensity engendered by a number of radical and ill-considered modifications which were made to them by the manufacturers at the behest of the Germans in order to clinch the sale.

Other artists who appeared on the album included such luminaries as Viv Stanshall, Brian Eno, Arthur Brown and Jim Capaldi[?].

For a long time this album was very difficult to obtain, but was re-released on CD in the mid 90s.
