Camrose, Alberta

City of Camrose

For many years, Camrose has been known as "The Rose City", a tribute to its scenic setting.

Parkland[?] dominates Camrose, creating an atmosphere that is friendly, relaxed and clean. Special attention is paid to keeping recreational areas clean, and for those efforts the city has twice been named "Cleanest City" in a Tri-City Challenge involving itself and two other communities.

The spacious Golden Jubilee Park[?] provides a warm heart to the community, nestled in a valley and featuring barbecue shelters, a wandering stream and lots of wide open space. The park is the location of the annual July 1 community picnic and fireworks.

Mirror Lake[?] sits in the centre of the city, showing off its treed banks and sparkling waters. The lake is home to one of the community's biggest sources of pride: a family of swans[?] that have made their home there for over 20 years.

Mirror Lake flows from Stoney Creek[?], which wanders through the city, and provides a grassy river valley where families can explore the wild life and take advantage of paved walking paths.

Mirror Lake Park[?] is the focal point of the Camrose urban parks system. Located on the edge of Mirror Lake, it is the home of the Bill Fowler Centre[?] which contains the Chamber of Commerce office and the Tourist Information Centre. One cannot visit the Bill Fowler Centre without admiring the beautiful nature mural, carved out of red brick. The mural features many of the animals which are indigenous to the Mirror Lake area.

An elegant arbor next to the centre connects the paved and lighted walking paths that encircle the lake and continue down the Stoney Creek valley to the campgrounds[?] and ski club facilities. No matter what time of year it is, you are sure to find someone walking the trails and enjoying nature's scenic beauty.
