Camp Hill is a town located in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. As of the 2000 census, the population of the town is 1,273.

Geography Camp Hill is located at 32°47'57" North, 85°39'10" West (32.799285, -85.652902)1.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 23.5 km² (9.1 mi²). 23.5 km² (9.1 mi²) of it is land and 0.11% is water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 1,273 people, 519 households, and 337 families residing in the town. The population density is 54.2/km² (140.4/mi²). There are 614 housing units at an average density of 26.1/km² (67.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 14.38% White, 84.92% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.31% from other races, and 0.39% from two or more races. 1.02% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 519 households out of which 30.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 29.5% are married couples living together, 30.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 34.9% are non-families. 33.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.45 and the average family size is 3.09.

In the town the population is spread out with 29.4% under the age of 18, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 27.0% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 12.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 82.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 77.3 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $20,655, and the median income for a family is $26,719. Males have a median income of $22,833 versus $20,038 for females. The per capita income for the town is $11,794. 24.4% of the population and 21.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 34.8% are under the age of 18 and 31.5% are 65 or older.
