Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 2,341 people, 1,014 households, and 652 families residing in the city. The population density is 93.2/km² (241.2/mi²). There are 1,192 housing units at an average density of 47.4/km² (122.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 33.40% White, 63.52% African American, 0.51% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 2.31% from two or more races. 0.81% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
