British North America

British North America, prior to (say) 1776 comprised all British colonies and territories on the North American continent, from Georgia to Labrador and Rupert's Land, and in contradistinction to " Russian North America" (Alaska and parts of California) and to Spanish North America.

Subsequently, the term became restricted to that collection of colonies of the British Empire located in North America that did not secede and form the United States of America at the time of the American Revolutionary War and where the British Loyalists emigrated after they departed from their residences in the southern thirteen states. Later, British North America consolidated into the Canadian Confederation under the British North America Act.
