Brahmin

Brahmin is the name of the priestly caste of India.

It is one of the traditional four Varnas or castes in Hindu culture. The four Varnas are said in the Rig Veda to have come from the body of the god Brahma. The Brahminical cast is the highest of the Varnas. According to the Manusmriti[?] only the Brahmins have the right to interpret the Vedas.

The word can also be spelled 'Brahman', but should not be confused with the divinity Brahman.
