Bohuslän

Bohuslän, or Bahusia, is a traditional province or landskap on the western coast of Sweden. It borders to Dalsland and Västergötland. It is also borders to Skagerrak and to Norway.

For many years Bohuslän formed a county togeather with the City of Gothenburg, but in 1999 it was replaced by the several times larger County of Västra Götaland.

Bohuslän became a Swedish province in 1658 due to the Treaty of Roskilde. The province gets its name from the fortress of Bohus[?], by the town of Kungälv. The other part of the name - län, which means fief is also the term used for the current administrative units. counties.
