Bitstream Inc.

Bitstream is one of the pioneering companies in the area of fonts. Founded in 1981 they are best known for their set of high-quality font faces, delivered in electronic format. The company's technology is not as widely used as PostScript, primarily because they provided only the fonts, and not a complete page description language or printing engine.
