Bitkeeper

Bitkeeper is a software tool for revision control (configuration management, SCM etc) of source code.

It is mostly known for being used to manage the source code of the Linux kernel.

The license for Bitkeeper allows for developers to use the tool at no cost for open source or free software projects, provided that they do not participate in the development of a competing tool (such as CVS, Subversion or Rational ClearCase[?]), no matter if the competing tool is itself open source or not. The latter clause has caused some controversies.
